The advice I received a while ago said that I should refer to myself by what I do, whether or not I am successful or not. I may not be a published author (yet) but that does not mean I’m not a writer. If you write, you are therefore a writer. If you begin to refer to yourself as the thing you aspire to be, practicing said skill, hobby, etc. then you’re reframing your self-image. It’s like a “you are what you eat,” or “reap what you sow,” situation
A Writer

Text within this block will maintain its original spacing when publishedWhy does one desire to be a writer?
To inspire, to teach, to perform outreach.
I will be a writer, whether successful or not.
I am a writer, every time that I write, whether contrived or trite, the point is, that I write.
Words on a page, that get a reader to engage, or enrage.
Thoughts become symbols, become letters, become words.
My mental emanations in reality thus made.
I am a thinker, and now an inker
Scribing stray thoughts as they arrive.
