Today I took some time to enjoy the fresh air and Spring Sun and found myself ruminating upon my childhood fascination with Fantasy Fiction. There was a period of time where I devoured these tales one after another. Emily Rodda (the pseudonym of author Jennifer Rowe) was the author of two series that changed my perceptions greatly. Her series “Deltora Quest” effectively serialized a story over a span of 8 books. “Rowan of Rin” took a far darker approach to the genre. In considering some of my own writing, I came to a realization. Many of my ideas could more effectively be made into something much like I used to enjoy as an adolescent. As I now embark on a creative refresh, I now have some deeper perspective on a what and why for my writing… but that’s all I can say about that.
I decided to codify some of my inspired feelings into a poem about the sometimes fickle but always appreciated sparks of inspiration that can come at the most unexpected times.
